family, friends, and members of the GLBT community in Seattle's
Eastside area. We work closely with Seattle PFLAG to serve the greater Puget Sound region.

We are a volunteer organization, made up of ordinary people brought
together by our shared experiences and concerns. We know what it's like
when you know someone who's coming out; we've been there ourselves.

We are a chapter of the national PFLAG organization.
Together with our sister chapters across the country, and our 200,000
fellow members, we work to further PFLAG's vision and mission.

Our Vision

We, the parents, families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgendered persons, celebrate diversity and envision a society
that embraces everyone, including those of diverse sexual orientations
and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity and equality for
all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually
and collectively. PFLAG welcomes the participation and support of
all who share in, and hope to realize this vision.

Our Mission

PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgendered persons, their families and friends through: support,
to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed
public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil
rights. Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides
opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity,
and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human
           diversity.

Everyone is welcome. We meet at Bellevue First United Methodist Church,
1934 108th Avenue NE, Bellevue. A map is available here.

Our monthly chapter meetings provide a comfortable atmosphere of
openness and support. Our membership represents a wide range of GLBT
community members, including parents, family and friends. We hail from
all around Seattle's Eastside. Anyone attending the meeting can share
their experiences with others in similar situations.

During the first hour, members and visitors share recent experiences.
Often there are family members or friends who are attending for the
first time. Anyone may have questions, or seek advice. Members respond
from their own experience.

The second hour of our monthly meeting is usually devoted to learning
from an invited guest. We have learned from varied community members.
For example, in 2004 we heard from Evangelicals Concerned with
Reconciliation, the local Human Rights Campaign, and many individual
members of the GLBT community who had enlightening stories to share.

Privacy

People come to our meetings with different levels of comfort and depend on our adherence to the following policy:

What is said in our meetings and the identities of those attending is strictly confidential.

No recording devices or cameras are allowed without consent.

Presence at our meetings does not indicate any particular sexual orientation.

All have the right to expect these protections and are obligated to extend them to everyone else present.
